Two Saratoga Springs budget workshops are coming up next week, and Thursday is the deadline for artists interested in the new gallery at the Putnam Parking Garage. Residents also have until November 5 to comment on the city’s annual community development report.
Budget workshops: October 13 and 15
The city has scheduled two afternoon workshops:
- Tuesday, October 13, from 1 to 2 p.m.
- Thursday, October 15, from 1 to 2 p.m.
Both are in the City Council Room at 474 Broadway, Suite 8. Our earlier article on the proposed 2027 budget provides background.
Check the city’s meeting page for agendas and viewing options before attending.
Garage Gallery: applications due October 15
The Putnam Parking Garage is slated to gain a public art installation next spring. The city’s Garage Gallery project will place original mural panels along the overhead beams of the lower parking level. Up to 14 local artists will be selected, with a $600 stipend for each.
Applications are due Thursday, October 15. The online application asks for a single PDF containing a bio or résumé, an artist’s statement and a concept sketch. It also sets out the original-artwork requirements. Installation is anticipated for spring 2027.
Community development comments: open through November 5
The city is taking comments on its Community Development Block Grant annual performance report, known as the CAPER. It covers how grant funds were used and the progress of funded activities during the program year.
The city’s notice gives a comment window of October 5 through November 5. Residents can use the public-comment form or send written comments to Community Development Planner Katherine Tiedemann. Contact the planner if you need a copy of the report.
